This festival will be celebrated on the new moon day in the month of July. On this day before sunrise, people will cut a small portion of the branch of palemara(Devil tree) using a stone and prepare bitter juice(Paleda kashaya) from it. It is believed that on that particular day the tree contains several medicinal properties.

After consuming Paleda kashaya, the family members are served with Metteda ganji(Fenugreek and rice porridge) which is a nutritious food prepared out of rice and fenugreek seeds.
