This is one of the famous temple in Mangalore. The main deity in Kudupu temple is Lord Anantha Padmanabha.
In the east, we can see the Naga bana and holy pond Bhandra Saraswathi Thirtha situated on the left side of the temple. A holy Anthill is situated inside the temple and also sub deity Goddess Devi and Lord Mahaganapathi. A shrine of Jarandaya lies in front of the temple.
A Brahmin Vedic scholar called 'Kedar’ was worried about not having a child. Once he met a saint 'Shringa Muni' near a small river 'Bhadra Saraswathi Thirtha' in the midst of a big forest and he told the reason for his worries. The saint suggested performing penance to Lord Subramanya who will fulfill his wishes. As per the advice of the saint, Kedar started penance and Lord Subramanya blessed him. Within a year, Kedar's wife conceived and gave birth to three snake eggs. Kedar was unhappy and he was thinking about it on the banks of Bhadra Saraswati Lake. He heard a divine voice and told him that Mahashesha, Mahavishnu and Subramanya were born for the betterment of the world and those eggs are said to be hidden in the lake. Similarly, Kedar takes the eggs and hides it in the lake. Also, he spent his life worshipping Lord Anantha Padmanabha.
