Bappanadu Durga Parameshwari Temple

Bappanadu Durga Parameshwari Temple situated on the banks of the Shambhavi River in Mulki. The temple has a history of about 800 years and a Hindu-Muslim harmony angle. Its main deity is Durga Parameshwari and the sub divinity is Ganesh.


 A Muslim merchant, Bappa byari once while crossing the Shambhavi River, the boat suddenly stops. Merchant gets to see a blood-stained river. He heard a divine voice, asked him to seek the help of Mulki Sawantha (Jain ruler) and build a temple for her. Thus, the name of the village is called Bappanadu and the temple is famous as Bappanadu Durga Parameshwari. 


Bappanadu Dolu(drum) is well known for its beating all over Karnataka. Temple authority has made a big drum and hung it beside the main entrance.
