Korida katta is a traditional event in rural areas of Mangalore and Udupi. It is a fight between two roosters. These roosters are armed with sharp blades (Baal in tulu) tied to their feet and allowed to fight against each other. The owner of the winning cock will be given a died or wounded cock.
Common names of the roosters
are(tulu language): Kadle, Maipe, Bolle, Kemmaire, Uriye etc., People gather to
watch this cockfighting and betting takes place. Now, this sport is considered
illegal and the government has banned this sport.
